Due to popular demand, before Jefferson High School in central El Paso gets demolished, Ghosts 915 adds a third ghost tour.

Before the main building gets demolished, the crew of Ghosts 915 is hosting the last ghost tours on-premises. And now, due to popular demand, the added ghost tour will accommodate former alumni and the curious to see what exactly lurks in the halls of La Jeff.

Whether you are a believer or not, El Paso is one of the most haunted cities in America and according to the book by Dennis William Hauck titled Haunted Places: The National Directory: Ghostly Abodes, Sacred Sites, UFO Landings, and Other Supernatural Locations, the high school is where the devil once appeared to students in 1947, a couple of years before the school fully opened as Jefferson High (formerly Burleson Elementary).

Last month I attended the first ghost tour hosted by Ghosts915 at La Jeff, and I, along with over 250 folks, showed up to investigate some of the paranormal occurrences at the school, which dates back to 1938.

Ghost915, in association with the Paranormal Society of El Paso, has partnered with the Class of 2023 to explore the haunted halls of Thomas Jefferson High School.

According to the stories, several instances of apparitions and encounters have baffled students and staff throughout the years.

Incidents include apparitions of children on the campus, veterans, and a woman that appears to cross back and forth from the school to the hospital and vice versa.

During the ghost tour, attendees traverse the whole school and its other buildings, including the main gym, library, and the original building.

So, is it creepy? In a word, yes!

Since over 250 attendees showed up for the ghost tour, groups were formed and split up, making for a smooth experience. While my friend and I were in a particular group, we had special access to bounce and move around between groups so that I could take pictures and notes along the way, and that’s when my friend and I heard something hair-raising.

We were walking across the gym heading downstairs to the boy's locker room when I pointed out to my friend that other school logos were hanging in the gym, when out of nowhere and with no one in sight, we heard someone or something whispering out the phrase, "Yesss."

My friend and I looked at each other, locked arms, and hurried to the next closest human beings we could find.

If that's not enough, other stories tell of staff hearing a ball bouncing and giggling near the main office and believe it's from a little girl who died in an accident near the school in 1974.

Former and current students and staff also tell chilling stories of seeing different ghostly girls who appear, float, and vanish into thin air along the canal behind the school, in the old band room, ROTC building, and the staircases in the main building.

Other stories include portals, the apparitions of Vietnam Vets, whispers, and even reports from a night shift security supervisor at the hospital who would often see shadows through the school's windows after hours across the street.

There are also stories of paranormal activity in the girl's and boy's locker room and the apparition of a little boy in the small gym, and it's so creepy at times that the custodians sometimes refuse to enter areas like the library and the home economics room after dark.

Dare to discover what paranormal activity lurks in the shadows at Jefferson High School when Ghosts915 hosts one of their last ghost tours in the old main building before the school gets demolished later this summer.
