Sticky music, a haunting melody or sometimes known as “earworms" are more common than you think.

As radio people we seem tend to have these ‘earworms’, or songs that get stuck in our heads, that linger for days. As annoying as they are, we often try to figure out a clever way to overcome them only to  end up replacing one song for another and falling into another musical trap.

Foiled again!!

“Hey, I just met you, And this is crazy, But here's my number, So call me, maybe?

This is the latest earworm culprit around the office – “Call Me, Maybe" from Carly Ray Jepsen.

So I decided to look it up and according to Wikipedia, earworms are more likely to last longer for women and to irritate us more than they irritate men. As it turns out, folks that suffer with OCD are also prone to earworms.

So what can we do about this ear gnawing problem?

  1. Stop listening to music forever – (Highly unrealistic)
  2. Replace the current song that you can’t get out of your head with another song as illustrated in the video below.
  3. And if all else fails – then just hope and pray that the song just stops haunting you and can live a normal life!

Good luck with debugging that earworm!
