If you're looking for a free flu shot, you can get one this week with from the El Paso Fire Department and Department of Public Health. They are teaming up with the Ysleta Independent School District to offer free flu vaccines to El Pasoans six month of age and older during this flu season.

The drive-thru site is open and free of charge for all YISD employees, students, families and the general public. The good news is that you won't need an appointment or insurance. Here's where you can get your flu shot:

YISD Central Office
(Lower Level Parking Lot)
9600 Sims Dr.
Tuesday, November 24
1:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

You will have to wear a face covering and stay in your vehicle when you go to get the flu shot. The free flu shots are part of the Be PowerFlu prevention campaign. It was put into place to help reduce the number of flu cases and to help prevent serious related illness during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that everyone older than 6 months get a flu shot every year. Getting a flu shot not only will help you avoid the flu but it will help keep down the number of flu cases and flu-related hospitalizations. Because of the ongoing pandemic, it's important to keep area hospital rooms available for people who need to be treated for COVID-19 infections and other serious illnesses. Getting a flu shot will help do that.
