El Paso’s Weekly Concert Update – Gloria Trevi, White Fang + More

Every week, this post will be your once stop shop for music happenings in the Sun City. From up and coming indie bands to Latin American superstars, we will detail who they are and when and where they’re showing up in El Paso. This week, a lot of heavy rock and metal is rolling into town, along with a Mexican superstar and some up and coming indie bands.

Thursday

Gloria Trevi – El Paso County Coliseum – Gloria Trevi is a Mexican pop star who released her first album in 1989 and has sold more than 20 million records over her career. While no stranger to soap opera level drama (Trevi spent four years in jail in Brazil on accusations of corrupting minors and kidnapping), she has since seen a revitalization in her work, thus coming to El Paso to promote her latest album De Pelicula.

Goatwhore, Black Crown Initiative – Tricky Falls – The black death metal band from New Orleans stops by Tricky Falls for the Metal Alliance Tour, and in support of new album Constricting Rage for the Merciless.

White Fang, Bithface, Nalgadas – Lowbrow Palace – Staples of Portland’s scene, White Fang play a high energy brand of punk that’s sure to make Thursday night at the Lowbrow as fun as it is sweaty.

Friday

New Madrid – Lowbrow Palace – Athens, Georgia may have their next big band in New Madrid, the buzzed about indie band who just released their latest album Sunswimmer, and have a great summer jam in “Manners.”

Saturday

Sahara Leos, LIGRE, Bumpstreet Fonanza – Tricky Falls – This is a great opportunity to see some of the best in El Paso, as three local bands show off their chops down at Tricky Falls!

The Abe Mac Band – The Fountains of Farah – Local native Abe Mac brings his own brand of country to the Fountains of Farah for their Sunset Sounds Series.

Sunday

Wayne Static of Static X, We are the Riot – Tricky Falls – Wayne Static, hair and all, will be at Tricky Falls this week for the 15th anniversary tour of Static X’s debut album Wisconsin Death Trip. The industrial metal frontman also released his first solo album Pighammer in 2011.

Tuesday

Bless the Fall, Silverstein, The Amity Affliction, Secrets, The Artist – Tricky Falls – The week rounds off with a metalcore and hardcore show featuring Warped Tour regulars Blessthefall, along with Silverstein and others on tour to promote their latest album, Hollow Bodies.
