El Paso’s Iconic Shop The ‘Headstand’ Closing Its Doors For Good

The legendary shop the Headstand in Northeast El Paso announces it's closing its doors for good by the summer.

After servicing the El Paso area for over four decades, the Headstand has decided to close up shop by late June.

Before the rise of e-commerce, shops like the Headstand specialized in rock rarities and offered a place to shop and trade music, find band t-shirts, discover your love of incense, and many other unique items that weren't readily available in El Paso.

But now, after 40+ years, owner Stan Stack is getting ready for a new chapter after announcing on social media that the longtime shop the Headstand is planning to shut down by this summer.

Dear valued friends and customers,

What wonderful and amazing times the Headstand has seen. Our friends and customers have made this possible, but, after 45+ years, the Headstand will be closing its doors. Ahead of us all are new adventures. Thank you El Paso for allowing us to share such great times with you. We will soon begin our going out of business sale and intend to close the Headstand by the end of June. Please watch this space for further updates. Thanks everyone.

The nearly 3,000 sq. foot shop located off Dyer plans to sell every last item until they close down operations and are offering ongoing deals on everything in the store.

Patrons will find deep discounts throughout the shop, including 40% off matted prints, t-shirts for $9.99, 20% off LPs, unique gift items, and much more.

Speaking with Stan, I couldn't help but feel sad knowing that such a legendary spot that once was part of my youth was ending. But, being the wonderful soul that Stan Stack is, he provided some comforting words by saying, "We will be ok, and you will too!"

Yes, Stan, while we'll all "be ok," I, for one, would like to thank you for your dedication to the Headstand and will forever be grateful for its impact on my youth.

The Headstand will officially close in late June, so stop in to visit Stan and the rest of the crew and shop early for the best selection before they close for good.
