El Paso’s Free ‘El Fresco Music Series’ Returns!
You know what’s better than spending another weekend pretending that overpriced cocktails at the same three bars are a personality trait? Literally anything, but especially the return of the El Fresco Music Series, El Paso’s free outdoor concert series that gives the community something much better to do than “just one more round.”
Presented by the City of El Paso, El Paso Live, and Nusenda Credit Union, this year’s El Fresco season kicks off May 23 and brings four nights of live music, food, and fun to the Convention Center Plaza in downtown El Paso. That’s 1 Civic Center Plaza for the directionally challenged.
“Ritmo & Rodeo” All Summer Long
This year’s theme, Ritmo & Rodeo, is a tip of the hat to both boots and beats. Every night alternates between Country Night and Latin Night, showcasing the best of our region’s local bands. Whether you’re into twangy heartbreak ballads or can’t resist dancing when the accordion hits, there’s a night with your name on it.
Here's the breakdown:
May 23 – Country Night (yeehaw responsibly)
June 27 – Latin Night (zapatos de baile not optional)
July 11 – Country Night (again, yeehaw)
August 29 – Latin Night (if you miss this one, don’t talk to us)
Yes, There Will Be Food. And Giveaways. And Actual Joy.
Expect delicious eats from local vendors, fun activities for the whole family, and giveaways you don’t have to enter through some sketchy QR code. Most importantly, expect a vibe. A reminder that El Paso is constantly doing cool, community-centered stuff while people with no imagination act shocked every time something fun happens that doesn’t involve a wristband and a hangover.
Bring your dancing shoes, your lawn chair, and maybe even that cousin who’s always saying “there’s never anything to do here” right before heading to the same dive bar they’ve gone to since 2009.
