Boil Water Notice Grows as El Paso School Closures Expand
It’s day two of a massive water main break in Northeast El Paso and thousands of residents continue to be impacted by this with even more schools canceling for the day.
The break happened early Sunday near Girl Scout Lane and Transmountain Road, close to Skyline Park. El Paso Water says a ruptured 36-inch main drained multiple reservoirs, leaving customers with low or no water pressure, prompting El Paso Water to issue a boil water notice for affected areas, including parts of Central El Paso and McGregor Range.
Because low water pressure increases the risk of contamination, customers in affected areas are urged to boil all water intended for consumption. El Paso Water recommends boiling water for three minutes before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, or making ice. Officials estimate service restoration could take up to 24 hours, with full repairs taking several days.
