Big shoutout to my boy David at KFOX for spotting this gem because this might be the cutest competition you’ll read about all week. Two of El Paso’s tiniest stars, Luna and Lucia, are vying for the title of "Toddler of the Year", a national competition hosted by none other than Mario Lopez. Not only does this contest come with serious bragging rights, but it also benefits Toys for Tots, making it all the more adorable and worthwhile.

The winner gets a $25,000 prize, a trip to a Peppa Pig theme park, and the honor of being grand marshal at the Hollywood Christmas Parade. But honestly, it’s the stories behind these toddlers that make us want to vote every single day.

Meet Luna – The Tiny Fighter With the Biggest Smile

At just two years old, Luna is already proving she’s tougher than most grown-ups. Her family describes her as “an incredible fighter,” and they mean it. She’s currently battling Leukemia with a cheerful smile that hasn’t dimmed for a second.

“She’s such a bright light! Full of energy and warmth, she always leads with her heart,” her family wrote on her competition page. If Luna takes home the $25,000, the money will go directly toward her medical expenses.

Right now, Luna is sitting at 4th place in her group, and honestly, El Paso, we can do better than that.

Meet Lucia – The Bubbly Ball of Energy

Also two years old, Lucia is already stealing hearts everywhere she goes. Her mom, Laura Ramirez, describes her as a “little bubbly personality” who loves being active. Lucia’s family plans to use the prize money for a new SUV and equipment for her and her brother, who both play for the El Paso Football Club academy.

Lucia is currently ranked 5th in her group, which means she’s just a few votes away from climbing even higher.

How You Can Help

Voting is simple. You can cast one free vote per day, or donate money to Toys for Tots for extra votes. But hurry, the clock is ticking. Voting to narrow the competition to the Top 20 ends Thursday, July 31.

Let’s rally behind these El Paso cuties and show the rest of the country how we do things out here.
