Public libraries really are some of the strongest community builders in any city and The El Paso Public Library is working overtime to prove it. El Paso's Public Libraries offer so many free events that it'll make your head spin!

The El Paso Public Library is one of El Pasos greatest resources, not just a hub for knowledge but a safe space for unhoused people during both extreme cold and heat, a community gathering space, and a full on random event generator.

Most of the events the library hosts make a ton of sense like the various themed reading and storytelling nights when kids and adults can come out to read together! Some of them even involve cool organizations like The Chihuahuas where people can come out and read with Chico himself! Even other cool events involving guest speakers on everything from El Paso history to film lectures or book talks!

For me though, the thing that makes me feel like the EP Public Library is going above and beyond are all the other cool, random, creative, FREE events they put together damn near every night of the week!

From Sunday to Monday, you can do anything from paint terra cotta planters to take a STEM class where you build your own mini model car! And every craft, whether its making a whole t-shirt, headband or some other cool trinket, is not just free but you also get to take it home with you! Plus, all the supplies for the crafts are included. Just the other weekend there was both a plant swap AND a trinket swap event!

I mean this week alone you can: Create DIY Punk jewelry, read with Chico the Chihuahua, play Super Mario Galaxy with the EPPD, craft clay magnets, join the Horrorclub for mini ice cream horror paintings, or make Korean Najeonchilgi boxes.

And this article doesn't even scratch the surface of all the different types of events the El Paso Public Library offers.
