El Paso’s Hollywood glow isn’t fading just yet. After the electric debut screening of Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another at the Plaza Theatre earlier this month, the city is gearing up for a second round of cinematic celebration, and this time, it’s open to everyone.

Jacob Cena, a location manager and picture car coordinator who worked side by side with Anderson during production, is making sure the buzz continues. He was instrumental in bringing the film’s debut to downtown El Paso, where local celebrities, cast members, crew, and countless proud El Pasoans filled the Plaza for a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Now, he wants the rest of the city to feel that same energy.

This Friday, September 26 at 5 p.m., when One Battle After Another officially hits theaters nationwide, Bassett Place Mall’s IMAX will transform into a celebration of El Paso’s role in the film. Moviegoers will not only get to watch the highly anticipated feature, but they’ll also step into a special behind-the-scenes experience.

Fans will be able to snap photos in front of the same backdrop used during the Plaza Theatre debut, see official props from the movie up close, and even meet and grab autographs with local actors who made it onto the big screen. For many, these actors represent the heart of El Paso, neighbors, friends, and family who got their chance to shine under Paul Thomas Anderson’s direction.

The best part? While tickets are still required for the movie itself, the photos, props, and meet-and-greet festivities are completely free.

If you missed the magic of the Plaza premiere, this is your chance to be part of El Paso’s rising story in the world of film. One Battle After Another may be a national release, but here at home, it’s something bigger, it’s a celebration of the city, the people, and the creative spirit that helped bring a piece of Hollywood to the Borderland.
