One of the more popular haunted houses in the El Paso area is also one of the best in the country.

U.S.A Today recently named the Massacre on Marshall Road a 2018 10 Best Reader's Choice in the Best Haunted Attraction category.

According to the 10best website, a panel of experts and editors picked the initial 20 nominees, then they let the Internet determine the top 10. The Ft. Bliss haunted house was the only haunted attraction in the entire state of Texas to be included.

As for what makes it such a fear-fest, this is what Chris Bohn, the chief operator and creator of the massacre house, told the Fort Bliss Bugle:

“This thing is about darkness – sensory deprivation – there’s a lot of wandering and wondering whether you’re at the end, yet unfortunately you’re not.”

The Massacre on Marshall Road will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. leading up to Halloween, and on Halloween night, Oct. 31, from 6 p.m. to midnight. Admission is $5.

It's located in the Trading Post at 1717 Marshall Road on Fort Bliss, across from Freedom Crossing, and is open to the public.

But because it is on base, non-military ID cardholders will need a pass to enter Fort Bliss. Bohn recommends those wanting to get their fright get their pass before the night they plan to attend. Passes can be obtained at the Chaffee gate Visitor Control Center.
