There are so many things that have been missing this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We have lost out on regular spring and fall school semesters for our kids, no concerts, no events, limited sports availability and access to public parks. Things have been tough, but there is a bit of a light at the end of the tunnel according to El Paso County Commissioners.

Commisioners are going to let a number of things to happen in the next few weeks:

1. Golf tournaments for adults, high school and youth levels

2. A youth ATV rider course that will take place on Sep. 26 at San Felipe Park

3. All fishing events and derbies at Ascarate Lake

County officials say that as with all events during the pandemic, CDC guidelines will have to be followed. If you go to any of these events you will have to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing. You will have to pre-register for all events so County officials can know who will be attending them and guidelines could change before the event if needed.

The County told a local news outlet that they are looking into when El Pasoans will be able to use sports parks again. Hopefully if the County can figure out a way to make sure that events at County facilities are safe we will be able to see more of them. We all could use some diversion but we are all going to have to keep each other safe so we can see more of these events happen again.
