The confirmed cases of the Delta variant of the coronavirus are going up in El Paso and City officials and the Department of Public Health say they need you to go get tested for COVID-19 and get vaccinated. There are at least thirteen confirmed cases of the Delta variant in El Paso. One of the patients is fully vaccinated and has underlying health conditions, the remaining nine are unvaccinated.

Because of the rising numbers of not only the original coronavirus but the Delta variant, City officials are urging El Pasoans to get tested for COVID-19 and vaccinated.

If you're wondering what the symptoms of the Delta variant are, health officials say they are similar to the COVID-19 symptoms you've been hearing about for over a year but doctors are saying they are seeing people getting sicker more quickly and they're seeing that more often in younger people. If you are fully vaccinated you could be asymptomatic or have very mild symptoms with the Delta variant but you could be more at risk of transmitting it to others, but there are cases of people getting severe symptoms even when their fully vaccinated. Officials say one of the biggest most noticeable symptom of the Delta variant is the significant loss of smell and taste.
