El Paso’s Own Stuntman Traveled “Back to the Future”
Every October 21st, fans around the world celebrate Back to the Future Day, honoring the iconic movie trilogy that gave us flying cars, hoverboards, and one unforgettable DeLorean. But here in El Paso, we’ve got our own reason to celebrate because one of Marty McFly’s stunt doubles came straight from our city. I first read this story on CBS4!
From the Lower Valley to Hollywood
Will Cascio, born and raised right here in El Paso, once found himself standing in for Michael J. Fox during the making of Back to the Future Part II. What started as a career riding horses as a jockey in Southern California turned into something extraordinary. Cascio’s time in the saddle helped him transition into the stunt world, where balance, speed, and fearlessness were essential.
His skills landed him on one of the most beloved movie sets in history. “I got dragged into Back to the Future 2 to cover for what Michael J. Fox couldn’t handle,” Cascio once said in a local interview. “I wound up on the back of the movie doing some hoverboard stuff. It was surreal! I worked on the courthouse scene.”

A True El Paso Original
Cascio’s family still calls the Lower Valley home, where his father trains horses at Sunland Park Racetrack. And though Hollywood may have called for a time, Cascio never forgot his roots. He spoke fondly of the experience and of working alongside Michael J. Fox. “He’s such a great guy,” he said.
That gig, short as it may have been, changed his life and it’s a reminder that even a city nestled on the edge of Texas and New Mexico has deep ties to cinematic history. El Paso’s blood truly runs with talent, grit, and a touch of movie magic.
So, this Back to the Future Day, remember: the next time you watch Marty McFly soar over Hill Valley on a hoverboard, you might just be watching an El Pasoan making history. "Wait, didn't he already make history??" That's time travel for ya.
