Drone Captures Wild Texas Drivers Backing Up on Freeway
El Paso, we asked for the rain to help us get a break from this horrible heat and the second we got some rain YOU START DRIVING CRAZY! *Stares in Mom*
Rain in El Paso is such a pleasant surprise because it’s rare but when it hits, apparently so does the chaos. And a video shared on FitFam El Paso is giving everyone a front-row seat to just how wild things can get when a few raindrops close down a freeway.

So, a semi-truck accident on El Paso’s I-10 caused both east and westbound lanes on the freeway to be closed. Worst part, this closure came right before morning rush hour so we already knew what kind of nightmare was about to happen!
If you were one of the smart people out there you made sure to check on traffic updates online, with your local news station, or even with Iris & Grizz in the morning! But, if you hate all of us then you may have missed the traffic updates and you found yourself stuck in a standstill on a Wednesday morning!
Fitfam El Paso shared a video that was captured by a man stuck in the backup who decided to pass the time by launching his drone. The drone footage shows a sea of brake lights stretching for miles and then it turns into a TXDot workers nightmare!
Several impatient drivers are seen reversing on the freeway trying to sneak off the exit they just passed. A few of them nearly caused brand-new accidents in the process.
FitFam’s followers wasted no time weighing in, with some calling out the dangerous behavior and others admitting...yeah, they’ve done the same once or twice. Look, we’re not here to judge… Just kidding, I’m judging.
ICYMI: Here are 5 quick rainy day driving tips to avoid becoming the next viral star:
- Slow down. Rain = slick roads = less traction. Duh.
- Avoid sudden movements. No swerving or slamming brakes!
- Leave room between cars. Tailgating in the rain? No thanks.
- Turn headlights on. Be seen. Stay safe.
- Do NOT reverse on the freeway. Seriously, don’t be that guy.
Drive smart, El Paso. You don’t want to end up on FitFam!
