On Christmas Eve, Janet Jackson announced she was postponing her Unbreakable tour citing the need to have "surgery soon."

Ms. Jackson did not specify what medical condition she was suffering from, but now word is it could be cancer related.

Radar Online reports she will undergo throat surgery for a tumor that may be cancerous. According to the gossip site's source, "Doctors found a growth on Janet's vocal cords that could be serious. It's a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately."

In her original announcement, Jackson did make it sound like this could be serious. "Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time," she wrote, adding all shows would be rescheduled, and that there would not be any "further comment" on the subject. She ended her statement with, "Gon' b alright."

Here's hoping for a speedy recovery and that the story is more rumor than truth.
