Searching for a space in El Paso where you can post up in a shady corner, hood covering your face with your trusty dagger staked to the table in front of you as you sip your pint of ale like a warning to any passersby that you are not to be trifled with? Have you been searching for a medieval style pub that transports you from the arid and scorching desert into a watering hole of strange travelers stopping to tell their tale for a while??

Your search ends today, weary traveler.

At the edges of Downtown El Paso, sitting on the corner of Myrtle and Ochoa is a pub that feels like something straight out of Lord of The Rings. Crown of Crows is still a pretty new spot in El Paso that has blown away every person I have invited in.

As you step through the door, you are immediately teleported into a new world. Depending on the season, the walls of this local tavern are lined with festive decorations and seasonal ornaments. The owner, Eddie, is a designer who has really poured so much passion into making it feel like an entirely different world the moment you walk in.

From the custom made window cage, fitted to the odd half moon windows that mimic tree branch silhouettes. The cluttered yet curated renaissance style paintings and portraits, trinkets and curios, all make for a theme that feels like Tolkien wrote an I, Spy book!

Crown of Crows is still growing as it gets its footing, for now there are plenty of drinks to be had, even coffee served on trays with actual cubes of sugar and small pouring cups for whatever kind of milk you choose. There are always delicious pastries along the bar to order as well, I recommend any lemon cake they have because whoever is making it probably uses fairy dust and pixie wings because it is legitimately magical.

El Paso has an actual pub, an actual medieval fantasy tavern where organizations like the Barbed Wire Open Mic Series are holding storytelling nights and D&D games, where locals are literally transporting themselves away from our little desert oasis to a land of enchantment that ISN'T New Mexico.
