Cheap Trick is Heading to El Paso and They Want You to Want (to See) Them
One of America’s preeminent power pop bands of your youth is coming to El Paso.
Get ready to “Surrender” to Cheap Trick.
With a legendary career spanning more than four decades and hit songs on the radio throughout the 70s and 80s, the enduring classic rock band will be hitting the stage at the Abraham Chavez Theatre in February.
Unlike many bands from way back when who continue to tour, the original lineup is still pretty much intact.
Nearly 50 years together in the studio and on the road, lead vocalist Robin Zander is still wailing away alongside guitarist Rick Nielsen -- baseball cap and all -- and bassist Tom Petersson.
Only drummer Bun E. Carlos is missing from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame lineup. (They kicked him out in 2010 after personality conflicts and an ongoing disagreement came to a head.)
Known for rocking classics such as “Ain’t That a Shame,” “Dream Police,” “Surrender,” “She’s Tight,” and the live version of “I Want You to Want Me” it was the late 80s power ballad "The Flame" that became the band's biggest selling and first-ever No. 1 hit song.
The band will be performing most of their big radio songs, a few deep cuts and fan favorites (“Gonna Raise Hell” anyone?), and likely a selection or two from their later years that you can use as an excuse to go to the bathroom or hit up the merch table.
Cheap Trick is scheduled to perform at the Abraham Chavez Theatre on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
