Chalk the Block has opened its application window encouraging local artists and vendors to sign up for its upcoming virtual event.

The good news is that Chalk the Block is back, the only difference is that this year it’ll be executed virtually because of the ongoing novel coronavirus.

MCAD (Museums and Cultural Affairs Department) is currently accepting artist and vendor applications for its first-ever Virtual Chalk the Block 2020 event.

Now in its 13th year – Chalk the Block draws about 45,000 people annually, according to Destination El Paso.  The free and family-friendly festival has become the largest free public arts festival in the region were over 200 artists and vendors converge to bring chalk art to life including entertainment with theatrical performances, live music, dance, and interactive art installations.

With the ongoing pandemic, the annual art festival has been adapted and will launch virtually on Saturday, October 10, 2020.

Local artists and vendors are encouraged to apply.

  • All applications must be submitted online
  • Late, incomplete, or paper applications will not be accepted
  • The deadline to apply is at midnight on Monday, September 14, 2020
