Carrie Underwood Shows Face (Again) Five Months After Nasty 2017 Injury
It looks like Carrie Underwood's battle wounds have become less than skin-deep.
The singer, who shocked fans when she revealed in January that she was forced to get 40 stitches in her face after a nasty fall a month earlier, shared an Instagram photo Wednesday (April 4) in which she showed off the flawless visage of a cover girl.
In other words: what injury?!
"You look beautiful! And can't wait to hear what you're working on," one follower wrote in response to the pic, while another noted "I'm so ready for CU6! And you look amazing!"
Fans also shared thrill that Underwood, whose last album Storyteller dropped in 2015, might finally be closing in on a release date for her sixth album.
Underwood first addressed her injury, which happened outside her own home, on January 1, and said she was still recovering from the accident (she apologized to fans for a potentially altered appearance). Still, Below Deck Adrienne Gang, who snapped a photo with Underwood at the gym before the news of Underwood's injury went public, said the country singer was in such great spirits that she didn't know anything had gone wrong.
“I had no idea she got hurt prior to meeting her," Gang told Us Weekly. "She had a wrist brace on, but I didn’t think much of it until I saw the headlines after I posted our picture together...She looked great and seemed to be in great spirits.”
Underwood first explained the "freak accident" to Entertainment Tonight.
"In addition to breaking my wrist, I somehow managed to injure my face as well," she said. "I'll spare you the gruesome details, but when I came out of surgery the night of my fall, the doctor told [my husband] Mike [Fisher] that he had put between 40 and 50 stitches in."
"I honestly don't know how things are going to end up but I do know this: I am grateful. I am grateful that it wasn't much, much worse," she added.
