Halloween is creeping up and this year the spooky holiday lands on a Friday which means kids don’t have to be up early the next day so they can trick-or-treat as late as they want!!! Well, that’s if mom and dad lets them.

I know when my son and I would go trick-or-treating, we started the night right when the sun went down and by 8 p.m. our feet were tired and we headed home. However, these days I notice in my neighborhood that some parents start trick-or-treating as early as 4:30 pm and some houses keep their doors open for candy seekers until after 9 p.m. This got me wondering, when is the perfect time to start and end trick-or-treating?

There’s no official city rule, but according to local parents, the sweet spot starts between 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., depending on how early you can get the kiddos out the door. As for when to wrap things up? Most agree that 9 or 10 p.m. is the perfect time to flip off the porch lights, get the little goblins tucked in, and start “checking” their candy stash.
