No meat Fridays, no problem. Drive-thru for anyone one of these delicious fish sandwich selections around El Paso.

The season of Lent is upon us, and that means no meat on Fridays. Enter Fish Friday's:

Personally, I wish we had an honest-to-goodness Fish Fry in El Paso. In the southern portions of the country, Fish Fry events are usually held on Fridays during Lent as part of a church or organization fundraiser. The community then heads out to mingle and support by dining in or picking up a plate full of battered or breaded fried fish with a side of French fries, coleslaw, hush puppies, and more.

Even though we can’t attend a Fish Fry right now, especially as the pandemic wears on, we can still score a great fish sandwich in El Paso.

Mc Donald’s

McDonald's Filet-O-Fish is the classic fish sandwich. It was actually created in 1962 for Catholics abstaining from meat on Fridays during Lent. You can never go wrong with a Filet-O-Fish, thanks to its consistent taste throughout the years.

Burger King

BK’s Big Fish Sandwich is made with premium cold-water Alaska Pollock filet, topped with a tangy tartar sauce and shredded lettuce; all served on a corn-dusted, bakery-style bun. I like this sandwich because I can have them add cheese and jalapeños, giving it the perfect kick that I crave.

Wendy’s

Just this week, Wendy’s unveiled a new Crispy Panko Fish Sandwich that is made with a wild-caught Alaskan Pollock fillet fried up in a crunchy panko breading with creamy dill tartar sauce, lettuce, and dill pickles and topped with a slice of cheese.

Arby’s

Arby’s is serving up two fish sandwich selections which include:

  • Crispy Fish Sandwich - features wild-caught Alaskan Pollock crispy and golden fried and topped with tartar sauce and shredded lettuce.
  • Kings Hawaiian Fish Deluxe – This is another of my favorites because this deluxe version includes the Kings Hawaiian Bun giving it the perfect balance of savory and lightly sweet.

Popeyes

Popeyes recently unveiled their new Cajun Flounder Sandwich, which is served on a warm and toasted buttery brioche bun with crisp barrel cured pickles and tartar sauce. Available for only a limited time.

 Which is your favorite?
