After a 2-year hiatus, the El Paso County Parks & Recreation Department is welcoming back the El Paso community to participate in this year's adult Winter Trout Reel-In Tournament.

Reel in the fun and enjoy a day of competitive adult fishing this Saturday during the catch and release trout tournament at Ascarate Park.

In preparation for the tournament, Ascarate Lake will be restocked with fresh trout this Thursday, January 13, so fishing will be suspended until the day of the competition on Saturday, January 15, 2021.

Registration Details:

  • Fishing participants must register at the El Paso County Parks & Recreation Administrative offices located at 6900 Delta, inside Ascarate Park.
  • Early registration fee is $20, and the deadline is set for this Friday, January 14.
  • Late registration fee is $25, with fees collected the day of the event from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • The first 50 participants will receive a welcome bag during check-in at the Ascarate Park Pavilion.

Prizes and trophies will be issued to first and second-place winners. All tournament participants will be entered into a raffle for additional prizes. Also, there is a two-pole limit per angler; and kayaks/boats (trolling motors only) are welcome.

A fishing license issued by the State of Texas will also be required; (available at most sporting goods stores around town.)

Parking:

The parking fee is $2 cash per vehicle, and shelter rentals are also available for the day starting at $50 (available in advance at the Parks & Recreation administrative office)
