One of the nicest places in the city is Ascarate Park. It is a great green space that has walking paths, a lake, and a great golf course. If you like to golf at Ascarate you'll need to dig a little deeper into your pockets to jump on the course. Not a lot deeper, but there is an increase in fees coming October 1.

I know what you're saying. Why do they keep raising prices at places that we are paying property taxes to support. Well, if you are going to play golf anywhere you're going to have to pay a fee to do so. The fees don't go up until October so you have plenty of time to play before then. You can also buy a 9-hole punch card for $90 and an annual membership.

You can get into Ascarte Park for free Monday through Friday. Admission is charged at Ascarate only on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitors to Ascarate pay $2 per a vehicle to enter the park on Saturday and Sundays. If you're a golfer Ascarate really is a gorgeous course to play on. Yes the fees are going up but in most cases only a couple of bucks here and there. It's an affordable option and a great way to maintain a wonderful greenspace in El Paso.
