In observance of Martin Luther King Day, the Adult Youth Olympics will honor Dr. King with a competition and collect cans for the MLK canned food drive that will benefit the less fortunate in the El Paso community.

The public is invited to commemorate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by participating in the MLK Adult Youth Olympics competition beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 16, at the Leona Washington Recreation Center located at 3400 E. Missouri Ave.

The annual competition includes a basketball free throw, football toss, and trivia contest between teams made up of one adult and one child. The entry fee is $5 or five cans of food that will be donated to the MLK Canned Food Drive. The event is hosted by District 4 City Representative Carl L. Robinson, the El Paso Public Library and the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department.

The16th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Canned Food Drive will continue to collect donations through Monday, January 18, 2016.
