Blue October and El Paso have had a long love affair, and coming up on Tuesday, October 25, El Paso fans will have the opportunity to see them performing live at the historic Plaza Theatre.

El Paso fans of the indie rock band from (Houston/San Marcos) have sung along to their infectious tunes since the mid-90s.

During the early days of touring, locals like Joe Dorgan of Club 101, Scott Ronson (former KLAQ Jock), and the band's hard-core fans served as a magnet that kept the band coming back for more.

Like piped pipers, Blue October has attracted and kept a legion of loyal fans, especially in El Paso, not just because of the music but because of the band's open connection and friendships cultivated throughout the years - me included.

I can't even begin to tell you all the times Justin was down to grant me KISS-FM exclusive interviews, appearing as a special guest for the El Paso International Music Foundation's open forum to discuss mental health and his ongoing sobriety. And he even gave one of the most moving acoustic performances of Hate Me in our studios which to date has over half a million views on YouTube.

Blue October has become more than just another rock band with a harrowing past into a multi-faceted band of brothers living their best inspirational lives and taking their fans along for the ride.

Ten years after frontman Justin Furstenfeld got sober, the band has spread its reach by releasing the documentary film Get Back Up (2020), which chronicles Justin's struggle with depression, mental health, and addiction affecting his bandmates and family.

Since its inception, Blue October has released eleven studio albums featuring seventeen Top 40 singles on the alternative rock chart featuring their platinum singles Hate Me and Into The Ocean.

Besides Blue October, Justin, his brother Jeremy, and Matt Noveskey created Harvard of The South, another rock band side project.

Meanwhile, Justin has also expanded his interests by flexing his thespian skills in front of the camera in films such as the action Film 'Section 8' starring Dolph Lundgren and Micky Rourke. And coming up in the Spring of 2023, Justin will join Frank Grillo, Mekhi Phifer, Scott Adkins, Dermot Mulroney, and Donald "Cowboy Cerrone" in the action movie 'Lights Out.'

But while all members seek out their interests, the band is still fully committed and, in mid-October, released a new studio album, Spinning the Truth Around Part 1, with plans to release Part II next spring and Part III soon after.

The new album, written during the pandemic, is a sonic trip as the band continues to evolve its sound with sleeper hits such as The Shape of Your Heart, When Love Isn't Good Enough, featuring a mesmerizing opera singer and The Girl Who Stole My Heart.

Now, nearly three decades later, Blue October continues to inspire its faithful fans.

From playing Club 101, Speaking Rock, Tricky Falls, and local street festivals, Blue October returns to the Sun City to perform at the historic Plaza Theatre for the very first time on Tuesday, October 25.

Over the years, El Paso fans have never faltered in their love for Blue October; if you want proof of that solid connection, I suggest you attend any of their live shows to witness fans sing their hearts out to every lyric and dance to every chord. There's a magnetic vibe that exists between Blue October and its fans, and I, for one, can't wait to swim and sway in that magic once again.
