Enjoy a free holiday celebration this weekend as dozens of El Pasoans will join in on the 45th annual nationwide TUBACHRISTMAS concert.

TUBACHRISTMAS was created by Harvey Phillips back in 1974 as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell who happened to be born on Christmas Day. Since then the tradition has continued yearly and will take over WinterFest this Saturday, December 8, 2018 in downtown El Paso.

Over 50 tuba and euphonium players are set to gather to play a free Christmas concert performing all your favorite Christmas melodies from Jingle Bells to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The free concert will take place in downtown El Paso between the Arts Festival Plaza and the Plaza Theatre where WinterFest is currently set up.

Any tuba or euphonium players who would like to join in should take their instruments and plan to attend a mandatory practice session in the lobby of the Plaza Theatre beginning at 11:30am tomorrow morning (participant registration fee of $10).

Sounds like a great family event so if you were planning on going out to WinterFest – hop on a Streetcar and make your way downtown to enjoy this free concert.
