City of Las Cruces Sets Dates, Lineup for 2023 Music in the Park Series
The City of Las Cruces Parks and Recreation Department’s free summer outdoor concert series is back.
Music in the Park will get underway in late May through the end of August and take place almost every week in Young Park on Sundays and the Plaza de Las Cruces on a handful of select Thursday nights.
Like last year, the lineup will feature a variety of musicians from Las Cruces, a few from El Paso, and some national acts.
The series will begin as it usually does with the Mayor’s Jazz Fest at the plaza on Sunday, May 28 featuring performances by El Paso saxophonist Frank Zona and Albuquerque’s Son Como Son, and conclude Sunday, August 27 with the world’s first and only heavy metal Mariachi band, Metalachi, at Young Park.
In between are Borderland favorites Fungi Mungle, Mariachi Los Arrieros, Billy Townes, Yarbrough Band, and an AC/DC tribute band from Houston. All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
