Tracy Morgan’s Emmy Appearance Was Almost Ruined By Paula Deen

There were weeks of planning, secret private plane rides, keeping a huge secret from network execs and production staff, a super secret operation worthy of James Bond, and the whole thing was almost tanked by Paula Deen.

Tracy Morgan's appearance onstage at the Emmys was a surprise to everyone except Paula. She ran into him at brunch on Sunday morning, just hours before Tracy made his triumphant return to TV, and did what we all would do. She whipped out her cell phone and took a picture with him. She was just about to Tweet it when publicists told her that it would ruin the surprise that night and asked her to not press send.

Amazingly enough, Paula said ok and sat on the photo until Monday morning. I don't know of many people who would have passed up the chance on one of the biggest scoops in social media history.
