Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, May 10 – May 12. Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks.

FRIDAY:

Alfresco! Fridays – The 11th season of the free weekly outdoor music series continues with Progreción Norteño. 6 p.m. Arts Festival Plaza (between El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre). No outside food or beverages, or pets allowed. More Details

FRIDAY – SUNDAY:

‘Evita’ – UTEP Dinner Theatre’s official 30th Anniversary production of the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber classic musical, featuring all-new scenery, costumes and staging, concludes this weekend. 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday at UTEP Union West Building. Tickets: $45 Friday and Saturday; $26 Sunday non-dinner matinees. Discounts available. More Details

Moore’s Greater Shows Carnival – Rides, food and games! 5 p.m.- midnight Friday,  2 p.m.- midnight Saturdays, 2-10 p.m. Sunday in the Sunland Park Mall parking lot. Admission is free, but rides cost 3 to 5 tickets; tickets are sold for $1 (or 24 for $20). $25 for a wristband good for unlimited rides.

SATURDAY:

‘Mariachis for Mom’ - El Paso Youth Symphony Orchestra’s 6th annual celebration of Mother’s Day. This year’s show features Mariachi Toritos with songs ranging from traditional to mariachi covers of pop hits 2 p.m. at the El Paso County Coliseum. Tickets: $15 to $25. 820-2952

El Paso County Presents Movies by the Lake - Bring the whole family, a blanket or chairs, and spend a relaxing evening watching a free movie (“The Blindside”) by Ascarate Lake. Grab a bite from any of the six food trucks, or bring your own food. No alcohol allowed. Free, but you will have to pay the regular $1 per car fee to get into the park. The movie will start at 8:00 PM. More Details

Let Freedom Sing Free Concert Series at Fort Bliss - The free monthly summer concert series kicks off with country singer Jerrod Niemann. 7 p.m. at Fort Bliss’ Freedom Crossing’s event lawn. The public is welcome, no Military I.D. required; early arrival is encouraged. To access Fort Bliss, show a valid Driver’s License and U.S. plated vehicle at the Robert E. Lee or Cassidy gate. All adults are required to present identification at the gate. More Details

Midnight Lock down Ghost Tour at Concordia Cemetery  – The Paso del Norte Paranormal Society will hold a paranormal investigation of Concordia Cemetery from 12 Midnight to 3 a.m. Investigate the darker part of the cemetery. Adults Only. Admission: $10. Proceeds go toward restoration and preservation of the cemetery. 408-7461

Downtown Artist Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. EPSYO Season Finale – The El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras will close out the season with a concert benefiting El Paso Symphony Orchestra’s Tocando community music project. 7 p.m. at the Plaza Theatre. SUNDAY:

Mother’s Day Picnic at Zin Valle Vineyards - Bring your Momma, a picnic, your family and friends and enjoy the afternoon at Zin Valle Vineyards. Free wine tasting and music from guitarist and singer Julio Ortiz. 12 Noon to 5 p.m. More Details
