Here’s what’s going on in and around El Paso this weekend, May 3 – May 5. Some events are free, some will cost you a few bucks.

FRIDAY:

Alfresco! Fridays – The 11th season of the free outdoor music series opens with Banda Jerezana. 6 p.m. Arts Festival Plaza (between El Paso Museum of Art and Plaza Theatre). No outside food or beverages, or pets allowed. More Details

Teneia Sanders - Indie singer-songwriter will be live in the Mecca Lounge at Ardovino's Desert Crossing, 1 Ardovino Drive in Sunland Park. Doors open 5:00 pm, performance is at 8:00 pm. This is a free show. 575-589-0653

The First Friday ArtWalk on the Mission Trial – Galleries and artist studios on Main Street near the San Elizario Plaza on the Mission Trail will stay open late. Live demonstrations and music followed by a Ghost Tour. 6 to 9 p.m. Ghost Tour begins at 10 p.m. 474-1800 or 851-0093

FRIDAY – SUNDAY:

‘Evita’ – UTEP Dinner Theatre’s official 30th Anniversary production presents the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber classic musical, featuring all-new scenery, costumes and staging. 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 2:30 p.m. Sunday at UTEP Union West Building. Moore's Greater Shows Carnival - Rides, food and games! 5 p.m.- midnight Friday,  2 p.m.- midnight Saturdays, 2-10 p.m. Sunday in the Sunland Park Mall parking lot. Rides cost 3 to 5 tickets; tickets are sold for $1 (or 24 for $20). $25 for a wristband good for unlimited rides.

SATURDAY:

Concordia Cemetery Ghost Tour – The Paso del Norte Paranormal Society will hold a paranormal investigation of Concordia Cemetery from 9 to 11 p.m. Meet at the Yandell entrance at 8:30pm. Admission: $10; 13 and older. Proceeds go toward restoration and preservation of the cemetery. 408-7461

Downtown Artist Market – The market offers the chance to shop for original arts and crafts in an outdoor setting while enjoying entertainment featuring local artists, food vendors and free activities for the entire family. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Union Plaza District (near The Garden Restaurant) along Anthony Street. SUNDAY:

Bowl El Paso Summer Fest Concert Series - The free music series opens with local band BJ Pando y La Mezkla. Food booths and other attractions. 4p.m to 8 p.m. outside in the parking lot at 11444 Pellicano. 593-7777

SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO:

Music on the Patio at La Vina Winery - Bring your favorite wine, snack, or a picnic and enjoy an afternoon of entertainment free of charge. 12:30pm - 4:30pm Sunday at La Viña Winery, 4201 S. NM Highway 28 in La Union, N.M. one mile north of Vinton Road on Highway 28. 575-882-7632

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta - The Town of Mesilla’s annual celebration includes live entertainment from folklorico groups and mariachis, plus more than 20 vendors of arts and crafts, games, children’s activities, and food booths.
