On any night of the year, Scenic Drive provides El Pasoans and tourists alike with the most majestic and panoramic view of the El Paso/Juarez landscape with glowing lights as far as the eye can see.

But one day a year, that picture-perfect view becomes an even more luminous wonderland. This year, that day is this Saturday, December 14, 2019.

That's when Centro de Salud Familiar La Fe will hold its annual Navidad de La Fe Luminarias. More than a hundred volunteers will light up the mountaintop road with over 4,000 luminarias, producing a glorious glow all along Scenic Drive.

The spectacular sight is more than just one of our city's most beloved Christmas traditions. This unique and totally El Paso event also serves as a fundraiser and canned food drive for families-in-need.

The amber glow of candles inside sand-filled paper bags will guide vehicles along Scenic Drive toward a live nativity scene, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and Santa’s brother from another mother, Pancho Claus. The yule time trio and their elves will be collecting the donations.

So if you plan on making the trek up the mountain, please donate as many canned and/or dry goods as you can, or hit 'em up with a few dollars. Everything La Fe collects Saturday night will be used to make sure those they serve have a happy Christmas.

What to Know Before You Go:

Scenic Drive will be open to one-way traffic during the event ( 6 p.m.-10 p.m. Dec. 14), accessible only from Richmond and Alabama in Central El Paso. Traffic will head westbound in a single lane and exit Scenic Drive at Rim Road.
