Singer and actor Tyrese Gibson is mourning the loss of his beloved mother after she lost her battle with COVID just two days ago.

Gibson was in the middle of shooting two films in Las Cruces and The Mesilla Valley, “Squealer,” and “Bad Hombres.”

Just one week ago he shared with his millions of Instagram followers that his mom was hospitalized with COVID-19 and pneumonia.

Two days ago he announced the passing of his “Sweet Valentine” with a video showing him holding his mom’s hand one last time.

This news is heartbreaking to hear, but it’s a strong reminder that this virus is still around.

Just three weeks ago, El Paso County recorded 30 COVID-19 deaths and 2,292 infections.

No word yet on how this tragic death will impact filming for Gibson’s two films, but in a recent post on Instagram Gibson captioned a video saying, “I’m sorry I have not responded. I’m not ok.”

Take your time to grieve, Tyrese. El Paso and Las Cruces will be here to welcome you back with love.
