How does watching a free movie outdoors on a warm spring night while you grab a bite to eat from a food truck sound to you? El Paso County hopes it not only sounds like fun, they hope it sounds like something you’d like to attend at the newly renovated Ascarate Park.

The two-movie series titled “El Paso County Presents Movies by the Lake” will open next Saturday, May 11, with a free showing of the Sandra Bullock movie “The Blind Side.” That will be followed by the latest Daniel Craig James Bond flick “Skyfall” on Saturday May 18. If they’re well attended, then more movies will follow.

Along with the free movies, food trucks will be on site so you can get your grub on too. The Reef Mobile Kitchen, Grill on the Go, Moshibox, Sweet Addiction Cupcakes, Bayou Snow Cones and TEAZE Boba Tea are the participating food trucks, but you don’t have buy from them, you’re more than welcome to bring your own food. No alcohol, though! Blankets and lawn chairs, however, are permitted. And although the movies are free, you’ll have to cough up a $1 parking fee per car as you enter Ascarate.
