18 months is a long time for a family to be apart, but tonight, two young sisters have their Marine dad back home with them after he surprised them at school.

10-year-old Breehana Tarango, and her 7-year-old sister, Kayley were reading essays about their dad to their classmates at Frank Macias Elementary School in the Clint ISD, when they caught sight of their dad, Marine Gunnery Sgt. Hector Vargas. After 18 months apart, they ran to him and began to cry.

Vargas will be in El Paso for 20 days and then return to Japan before coming back to the States when the family will move to a new duty station.

Welcome home, Gunnery Sgt. Vargas, and thank you for your service to our country!
