BREAKING NEWS: 5 Fort Bliss Soldiers Are Dead After An IED Explosion In Afghanistan

There is tragic news out of Fort Bliss today.  Five soldiers stationed at the post have been killed in Afghanistan.

A Fort Bliss official says the five men, identified as 1st Lt. Brandon J. Landrum, Staff Sgt. Francis Gene Phillips IV, Spc. Kevin Cardoza, Spc. Brandon Joseph Prescott and Spc. Thomas Paige Murach were working a mounted patrol in the Maiwand District in Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province on May 4th, when their vehicle was struck with an IED.

There is no more information being released at this time.  Fort Bliss officials are expected to release a more in-depth statement later today.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of these brave soldiers, and to their friends and fellow soldiers at Fort Bliss.  Words could never convey the debt we owe these men for their service and sacrifice to our country.
