Guys would be happy doing a night of channel surfing with takeout Chinese food. If you want drinks, dinner, and dancing, then you're going to have to draw him a picture. And probably make all the plans!

If you plan on doing date night on a Friday night, give him, and you, time to unwind.  Maybe pour him a cold beer and let him drink it while he takes a hot shower and gets ready for your big night out.  Or ask him to join you on the back porch for a sunset cocktail before you head out to dinner.
