The ASARCO stacks might be gone, but there is video of what it looked like from the top of the over 800 foot tall stacks. You might want to hold onto something before you check this video out.

The ASARCO stacks and El Paso City Hall building are scheduled to be destroyed Saturday and Sunday, and even though they will be filmed from every angle, and blogged about obsessively, I think the newspaper is still the best way to experience the big blow ups.

The Asarco smokestacks were erected in 1951 and 1967.  The statue of Christ on Mount Cristo Rey was erected in 1940.  Only one of them will still be standing after April 13th.
