The Christmas spirit is in the air and brings joy to many who consider it their favorite time of the year.

A couple of yuletide events on Saturday mark the beginning of many local tree lighting's and holiday celebrations through the end of the year.

The magical evening will include free hot chocolate and cookies, Christmas carols, and a visit from St. Nick. (Santa! I know him!)

This is the time to take the kids out for a night light of fun!

The nights around downtown El Paso will be a whole lot brighter through Christmas now that the downtown Christmas tree in San Jacinto Plaza has been officially lit.

Christmas officially arrives in El Paso this evening at 5:50 p.m. That’s when Mayor John Cook is expected to flip the switch on the 10,000 plus lights that hang on the Afghan pine tree in San Jacinto Plaza.
