Darren and I partied like cray-cray Friday night at the Downtown Streetfest, and Saturday, had a fabulous breakfast at a downtown restaurant you need to know about!

Friday night, we watched Theory of a Deadman, Filter, and Saliva rock the crowd, checked out the fireworks - Teachers Federal Credit Union really wowed everyone with this year's display again! - and then, after a couple of drinks with friends at the Dome Bar in the Camino Real Hotel, we toddled off to meemees.

Saturday morning - ok, Saturday afternoon! - we woke up and needed to eat something to soak up all the alcohol, I mean, give us energy to get ready to party like mad again Saturday night, I mean, well, you know what I mean!

Darren knows this cool little restaurant in the Gateway Hotel downtown that he and a photog from ABC 7 hit up for lunch when they're covering a downtown story, so we dragged our crudo butts a couple of blocks from the Camino to Martha's Cafe.

After you walk past the "downtown characters", also known as the bums on the bench out front, you walk through the lobby of the Gateway and around the corner to the left.

The man who owns Martha's and cooks all the deliciousness, Salvador, kinda digs the Dallas Cowboys!  Salvador, Jr., told us his dad, Salvador, is the one who cooks, and the restaurant is named after his mom, Martha.  They've been at that location for about 4 years, and they've really got a following!  There are only about 7 booths, and there were none to be had after we took the last one.

Darren recommended the torta de jamon, and he felt like breakfast, so he ordered the pancakes with bacon and an egg.  We snarfed down the pancakes before I could take a picture, but we did manage to get this one of the torta..

The service is impeccable, the kitchen was spotless, and Salvador, Jr. is a doll!  Martha's is open Monday - Saturday, 7am - 4pm, Sunday's 7am - 2pm.  I'm thinking Darren and I will be hitting Martha's up again for a late breakfast Sunday morning after enjoying the Streetfest Saturday night - come join us!
