Are These Shots From “One Battle After Another” In El Paso?
El Paso, get your freeze-frames ready: the trailer for One Battle After Another is stacked with blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments that look a little too familiar… sun-baked stucco, mountain silhouettes that scream Franklin, and alleyways that practically smell like fresh tortillas and spray paint. We know Paul Thomas Anderson filmed here so we’re about to pause at 0:13, 0:27, and 1:02 and argue like detectives over whether that’s Scenic Drive, Segundo, or a backlot pretending to be the Borderland. We're looking over the first full trailer that dropped so watch it and tell me what you think!
Tell Me This Doesn't Look Like A Vista Market!!
One of the first things we see in the trailer is a few shots of Leonardo DiCaprio walking around what DEFINITELY looks like a Vista Market or maybe even a Food King!
Too Green To Be El Paso?
There are quite a few shots of this same road or others that look like it. For my money, I don't think they're El Paso but you never know!! That big mountain wall looks like it could definitely be somewhere around The Sun City!
Okay, This Is Obviously The Border Wall
The Border Wall is undeniable, but I wouldn't put it past the crew to make a fake wall if they really had to. I think its real though!!
Downtown El Paso Makes Some Obvious And Not-So-Obvious Appearances
The majority of these shots are DEFINITELY in Downtown EP but there is at least one that is too dark to really tell. The shot specifically is of a small explosion in what looks like a bank. I feel like El Paso would have been buzzing if there was a practical effect like that on our streets, but maybe we kept our chismoso mouths shut for the sake of the movie.
I KNOW This Is The Outside Of The Courthouse
Okay, I have waited for enough friends to get out of jail that I am almost POSITIVE this is the Downtown Courthouse.
Could This Building Be In El Paso?
There are quite a few shots that are indoors that could be El Paso locations. Of all of them, I think this one is definitely one of those El Paso shots. I'm not sure why, but this shot of Leo feels like it could be inside one of the old downtown buildings.
Wait Till 'One Battle After Another' Drops In September
Whether we’re dead-on or wildly confident with zero proof (the El Paso way), half the fun is calling your shots and staking your claim. If the production did sneak into town, we’ll spot it by the light, the dust, and the way the mountains photobomb everything like proud cousins at a quince. Drop your timestamps, bring your theories, and let’s make the case that the coolest frames in this trailer were, in fact, born in the 915.
