It's been 11 long, long years, but finally, EA Sports College Football 25 is releasing this week—and the hype is through the roof.

Gamers can store away their NCAA Football 14 disc, which was the last college football video game release. UTEP football fans can play as the Miners in the virtual gridiron setting that will lead perfectly into the actual season on Aug. 31.

"The game has fantastic graphics and a ridiculously realistic feel for every school. But more than anything else, it feels like the game we used to love," wrote Chris Vannini in The Athletic, as one of the few content writers who was able to preview the game.

EA Sports College Football 25 release

The video game will be available on Monday to those who purchased the deluxe edition ($99.99) and it will be widely released on Friday, July 19. One can play the game with a Playstation 5 or Xbox Series X/S console.

Play as UTEP

In EA Sports College Football 25, the Sun Bowl is well-represented and looks fantastic in a virtual form. From the first preview of UTEP's entrance that a user posted, the accuracy is pretty impressive. They have the Miners running onto the field from the south entrance and details like the field paint, jersey names and mountains are shown on the screen.

And yes, all the names of the players are listed in the video game. The video game went away because the NCAA wouldn't allow players to be paid. Now thanks to NIL, all rostered players across the game will receive payment for their participation in the game, along with a digital copy of the game itself.

Other game modes

One of the most notable gameplay modes in the video game is Road to Glory. While the new game will not include high school football as the previous video games did, players will start the game getting ready to enter college and choose the type of prospect they will play with. Once your player picks the university, you live the life of a student-athlete and try to build a legacy. Features include managing your GPA, earning the trust of the coaching staff and even using the transfer portal.

Ultimate Team is another game mode that will let users build a fantasy team with college football stars and legends. Users can play solo games, head-to-head seasons and more.

Dynasty Mode. another popular mode, allows the gamer to build a football program at a single university. The user will be tasked with establishing a coaching staff, recruiting top talent and hitting the transfer portal—all with a goal of reaching the College Football Playoff.

Here are some of the nuggets that UTEP Zay found over the weekend for the videogame:

  • UTEP will have an all-orange, blue uniform and orange helmet and all-white uniform combo in the video game
  • Sam Houston is listed as a rival for UTEP in the game
  • Fans/players can do the "picks up" hand gesture in the game
