You Won’t Believe What This Texas Woman Was Arrested For
File this one under true, "creepy" crime. An Austin, Texas woman just got nabbed for performing illegal experiments on human corpses.
According to KXAN, Adeline Ngan-Binh Bui turned herself in to the Travis County Jail last week for allegedly falsifying official documents and experimenting with the dead. Those experiments involved cutting off the limbs of corpses.
Officially, the charges against her are "Abuse of Corpse Without Legal Authority and Tampering with Government Records.
It all began when a former employee of the mortuary where Bui worked accused her of "falsely initiating and obtaining" death certificates in his name. Bui said she used his name because it popped up on a drop down list of names when applying for the forms.
Bui apparently ordered experiments on the effects of embalming fluid with and without formaldehyde on human extremities. This meant cutting off the heads and arms of corpses as well as removing spines. Afterward, she, allegedly, had the body parts ... in a "dissected and disturbed" state ... sent for cremation.
Why Did She Do This?
The article doesn't make the reason for needing the (fake) death certificates clear but Bui claims the experiments were done with/for a medical training company ID'd as MedtoMarket.
When Austin police asked MedtoMarket’s CEO if this was "normal", they said “medical schools do it all the time, yeah”. That may be true but the TFSC says experimentation must be done in a certain way and in certain places.
... “it is unlawful for a commercial embalming establishment to use a dead human body for research or educational purposes.” - kxan
