Could A Cheap El Paso Jet Star In A New Documentary?
Two brothers from El Paso recently bought a jet airliner cheap and now they're filming a documentary ... maybe.
A 727 passenger jet, once owned by the US Marshal's Service and truly "Con Air", sat, abandoned at the El Paso International Airport for decades before it was finally put up for auction. Brothers Ismael and Frank Lara bought it for the bargain basement price of $10K.
They're still trying to figure out what to do with it and filming their experiences as they go.
Having the jet dismantled and moved has added to the initial $10,000 dollar purchase price. While Lara says the airport has been lenient with them, he knows storing the jet there while they take it apart to move it will also come at a cost.
When asked if he's ever wondered to himself; "what have I done"? - Lara, according to El Paso Matters, gave a simple answer - "From Day One".

Some of their ideas on what they'll do with the jet include making it into a lounge or using it as a flight simulator. I was thinking maybe turning it into an Air BnB or starting a "Smuggler's School" but, what do I know?
Will They Really Make A Documentary?
Frank Lara, in addition to being a jet co-owner, is also a videographer and has been filming everything as the jet is taken apart and moved. Ismael thinks "So I bought a jet" would be a great intro line but he's unsure people would really watch a documentary.
His journey might not be as relatable as renovating a home, he said, and he’s not sure people would follow his journey without some kind of lesson or message.
“What would I say?” he asks. “Don’t buy a plane?” - elpasomatters
That's probably the best advice ever.
