Who Is This Mysterious Texas Girl on This Iconic Emo Album Cover

We know that Texas is a fan of emo music but the state has a very interesting history of the emo legends, Hawthorne Heights. For over 20 years, the band from Dayton, Ohio has been a staple in the emo world & it turns out the state of Texas has been with the band ever since the beginning. And that all stems from their very first album, The Silence in Black and White.

But the interesting part is...the band doesn't KNOW WHO this girl is. The band even took to Twitter (X) to try to find the answer back in 2023. This question was also asked on Reddit too. So who is she?

Here are some theories of who the girl on The Silence in Black and White album cover is

On the band's official Facebook page, they put a post celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of The Silence in Black and White. However the interesting part was in the comments section; one user named "Amy King Harrison" revealed that the album cover was shot in West Texas.

"This album cover was shot in Lubbock Texas. I'm the older woman on the inside"

So that's it. Mystery solved...right? Well...

According to the band, the girl on Hawthorne Height's debut album is from El Paso, Texas.

YUP. Shortly after their performance at When We Were Young Fest, they said in an interview with Hot Topic Music that the girl on the cover was from El Paso, Texas.

So ok! The girl is from El Paso then. Mystery solved now? Well...maybe not!

Going back to that Reddit thread, one user pointed out that the band said the girl on the cover is actually JT Woodruff's, the lead singer, daughter as pointed out on this Instagram reel. The band even said "it’s JT’s daughter Avery". So it's possible the girl might not be from Texas at all.

However that was back in June of 2024, that Hot Topic Music interview was on October 2024. It seems like we STILL don't know exactly who this person is or WHERE she's from.

But we DO know 2 things: 1. The album's photo was taken in Lubbock, Texas. 2. There are many fans from El Paso that would LOVE to see Hawthorne Heights in town.
