Cornudas, Texas- which just got a new owner- will be hosting their Chili Cookoff on September 28th where the winner takes it all! No, seriously! The winner of the chili cookoff will win 10 acres of land! Land that is located in Hudspeth County and is worth a conservative $3,000. If it sounds unbelievable, I can assure you that it's real.

As you can see, there are not catches- or closing costs, which in this economy, is amazing!

Things have certainly been anything but "normal" for this town- and I think that's a great thing!

Not too long ago, Cornudas was for sale. It's now owned by Jon Jasniak and he has been very cool about sharing the journey of him turning this "ghost town" into a full blown tourist Texas destination!

Cornudas is located about an hour from El Paso, directly between El Paso and Carlsbad, New Mexico. The area was a good location for travelers to rest and resupply while travelling. According to Texas Escapes, the town was first owned by the Tinnin Family until 1977, then the Derrick Family until 1982 and then "Mayor" May Carson until she passed away in 2018.

Jasniak is an entrepreneur who actually buys and sells land, so it should have come as no surprise that he would eventually stumble across the town of Cornudas. And now, he's sharing that with whoever can make the best chili! It's a win-win situation, you get chili and land!

No word, though, on whether adding beans to the chili will disqualify you.
