Looks like it sure CAN-nabis!

Woof.

Texas isn’t known for being on the frontlines of legalizing marijuana. In fact, now is a good time to remind all of our Texas listeners/readers that it is illegal to use cannabis recreationally. Good news for El Pasoans is that it's perfectly legal to consume in New Mexico - just as long as you stay there to consume it.

Texas is leading the way, however, in Cannabis... Sponsorships?

A lacrosse tournament is doing something, let's say, highly interesting.

Chill Medicated, a cannabis company “dedicated to destigmatizing the plant and promoting its potential for athlete wellness and recovery,” is claiming to be the first cannabis company to legally sponsor a sports national championship in Texas.

The company is sponsoring the 2023 Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Organization championship in Round Rock, Texas. The tournament runs from May 10-12.

If you haven't heard of it, they’re club teams.

The WCLO is made up of nearly 100 non-varsity collegiate teams. This is the first year of the tournament, which will include these eight teams: Grand Valley State University, Salisbury University, Loyola University Maryland, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, University of St. Thomas, Marist College, Binghamton University, and University of Minnesota-Duluth.

Chill Medicated has locations all over Michigan where recreational cannabis is legal, but it looks like the company is focusing on its CBD line for this tournament, because that stuff actually is legal in Texas.

The company says that it offers “CBD rubs that are non-transdermal, designed to provide fast-acting relief for sore muscles and joints, reduce inflammation, and promote relaxation.”

So, you could see how that might be beneficial to athletes with sore muscles and … joints.
