Is This Really The Best Mexican Food In El Paso?
Our news partners at KVIA came up with a list of the highest rated Mexican food places in El Paso based on Yelp reviews.
This is, (has always been and I'm sure always will be), the most hotly contested subject in El Paso history.
To keep stoking this particular fire, and to rile a few people up in the process, keep reading to see not only their list but also my own personal go tos.
First, here's KVIA's top 8:
- El Taquito
- Aaajiii Tacos And Beer
- El Toro Bronco
- El Jacalito Restaurante
- Pepe's Tamales
- Taqueria Sabrosa
- Conico Cocina Mexicana
- Mariscos Central
For personal faves, I'm only doing a top 5. I'm not going by reviews or basic food quality either. (I like them all.)
I'm basing my list on cool things about the restaurants.
The Shelby Shack
Great food, way reasonable prices and the oddest location ever. That's part of what makes it so cool, they're in the service area at Casa Ford on Montana. Click that link to learn/see more.
Rosa's Cantina
The Marty Robbins song alone gives this one a special feel as the setting for the tale of love, betrayal and murder set in the west Texas town of El Paso.
La Posta
I'm a history geek, especially when it comes to the old west. Knowing that this historic building has seen the likes of Wyatt Earp and Billy The Kid absolutely gets it a spot on the list. Bonus points for the fact that it's way haunted.
Kiki's
Another, very cool historic building. Once a home, I think, it now provides a nice, homey atmosphere to enjoy your meal in. Bonus ghost points here too. I haven't heard any stories but this place HAS to be haunted.
Carlos And Mickey's
Another beautiful setting to dine in and, (I'm pretty sure), another converted home. Bonus points here for being owned by the same guy that brought us Pancho's Mexican Buffet.
No Chico's. Sorry.
