Amarillo is a quaint city located in the heart of the Texas Panhandle. Our downtown is mostly business, but it does have a modest nightlife.  Over the years, the HooDoo Mural Festival has been bringing beautiful art to the buildings.

One of the main roads of Downtown Amarillo is Polk Street, and this is where most of the nightlife takes place.  Bustling bars and higher-end boutique hotels line the street, along with restaurants and businesses.  However, retail shopping isn't prevalent on Polk Street like it was back in the day.

However, a video floating around TikTok is showing us a whole other side of Polk Street. The video takes us down Polk Street and surprisingly shows luxury retailers like Gucci and Rolex, neither of which exists in Amarillo. While a few stores in Amarillo may carry high-end items, stand-alone designer boutiques simply don’t exist here, especially not downtown

Maybe, this is just an alternate reality, and somewhere in another universe is a bougie Amarillo without all the cowboy hats and boots. It feels more like Beverly Hills than the Texas Panhandle.

What’s the Most Upscale Spot on Polk Street?

Right now, the most luxurious thing about Polk Street is The Barfield Hotel, where upscale travelers stay when they visit Amarillo.

Could Downtown Amarillo Ever Go Luxury?

It would be nice to see some retail stores in downtown Amarillo, especially on Polk Street, like in its heyday.  However, unless an influx of money enters Amarillo, it won't support these luxury stores.
