Texas Fugitive Plays Hide-and-Seek with Police in Church Ceiling
A man in Frisco, Texas who was on the run from the police climbed up into the ceiling of a nearby church in an attempt to hide. Needless to say it didn't go too well for him in the end.
According to a statement published on the city website, 34-year-old Daniel Ryan Keith was pulled over for running a red light on Wednesday afternoon.
Wrong Name, Silly
After pulling into a nearby parking lot, the officer approached his parked car and asked for Keith to identify himself. After giving the cop a fake name, the officer searched for the mystery man himself and--surprise, surprise--he discovered his real name was Daniel Ryan Keith.
The officer also found that Keith had a warrant for a probation violation.
The Sky's the Limit... In This Case, The Ceiling
As the officer was gathering information, Keith quickly exited his vehicle and made a beeline to the nearby First Frisco Global Methodist Church.
The officer pursued but eventually lost sight of the suspect. Church staff were able to direct the officer to the main building.
Backup arrived and children and attendees were evacuated. Surrounding the church, police attempted to call Keith's cell phone in efforts of a peaceful surrender, but to no avail.
Eventually, with some drone assistance, Frisco PD was able to see that Keith was holed up in the church ceiling.
Keith was taken into custody with charges of running a red light, having an expired vehicle registration, failure to identify as a fugitive and evading arrest on foot. His total bond was set at $53,000.
